MEMORIES OF DISTANCE

Magenta sunset skies
purple clouds

Cross a river
that gently waves

To blue houses
sitting at the shore

Ghostly trees still bear
fiery weakening leaves

Deeper into the forest
evergreens spire small arms

Rain pelts sloped roofs
makes asphalt a mirror

Lights reflect soaked night
as lonely streets span

A row of lamps halo
pairs of predawn walkers

Scattered azure shades
provide contrast to branches

Solitary full moon
brightens woodsy walls

Walkways play
games with darkness

A single window displays
man-made interior

Imagined faces float
in arbor and air

Portal offers path
through craggy harbor

Newborn snow repaints all
to appear soft as toys

Red buildings fight
for flecked attention

The dock returns
to elicit one move

To view again the whole
caked panorama

Board once more
the waiting vessel

Take out vision
of tailed hawks

Remember lotus as plentiful
as springing cherry blossoms

Glowing sunrise blinding
clear water shadows
